Masterwork™ Retro TVs

What is a Stellar Masterwork Series Retro Color TV? 1950s & 60s Vintage Retro Television Sets- authentic period cabinets with updated internals. These are not mass-produced sets, they are individual, one-off, and each entirely unique.

While turned off, the set looks just as it did in on the showroom floor. We scour the country to find good original sets in mint or as near mint condition as possible; as mid-century modern aficionados, we favor authenticity and not to restore when not necessary.

Touch the front panel power button, or flick on the remote control; it’s then easy to tell that this is not an ordinary vintage black-and-white TV. It’s a Stellar Masterwork. The aesthetics are completely seamless. Original lines, original grille cloth and knobs. Factory finish. The picture fits in just as it should with no gaps. Best of all, these TVs are entirely modern. Masterwork is the marque of refinement in retro televisions, and the best option to compliment high-end mid-century modern, atomic, 50s and 60s era decor. See our Custom Color category for past sets and build examples.

What goes into a Masterwork Series Colorset? Our parts are unused overrun, unassembled picture tubes and chassis manufactured by various marques such as RCA, Zenith, and Sharp. No “budget line” chassis such as Sanyo or Funai. Our new stock covers most screen sizes and cabinet depths from the mid 1950s through the early 1960s. In certain cases, Refurbished sets may be used in cabinets with an unusual screen size which our usual stock parts won’t fit, and would be noted in the listing. Our aim is to make sets seamless, and not “something close.” No flat screens (They simply won’t fit, don’t look right, and are, overwhelmingly, poorly built.)

All models with a screen larger than 12″ are available as a Stellar Masterwork Series Color Conversion (Patent Pending.)  Our Masterwork Colorsets can be seen at locations around the country, including: NBC News Offices New York, Hepcat Restorations, Zak Bagans’s Haunted Museum Las Vegas, and Googietime Fabulous Fifties Furnishings, to list a few. Have a showroom? We’re interested in finding local distributors oriented toward the better mid-century market.

Warranty: an industry standard one year.

Please direct inquiries through the form at the bottom of the page.

Sets shown with a price sheet below are already converted, while sets without price sheets are awaiting conversion or will be converted on request. We can also convert your existing television cabinet. 3 month interest free layaway & financing available. Internals are all NOS (New Old Stock) unused parts, except where noted ahead of time.
